Choosing the Wood
Our coaster sets are built from premium hardwoods; thermally modified red oak, rich cherry, and deep black walnut, with more options to come as time continues. Each current set paired with a stripe of maple for a striking contrast. Each combination is chosen for how the grain patterns interact, how the tones complement each other, and how the finished piece will look on your table years from now.
Thermally modified red oak goes through a heat treatment process that deepens its color and richens the grain, giving it a rustic, grounded character that pairs effortlessly with both modern and traditional décor. Cherry brings warmth and a luxurious grain that only gets better with age. Black walnut is the showstopper; timeless, rich, and unmistakably premium.
Built to Last
Although many of our products use safer and less petroleum based products, there is absolutely still a place for these other finishes in many projects depending on the purpose of the product. Coasters are meant to be exposed to water, so we finish every coaster with a quality oil-based polyurethane, a deliberate choice over simple oil and hard wax oil finishes common in woodworking. Polyurethane creates a harder, more moisture-resistant surface that holds up to daily use without constant re-oiling. Your coasters should protect your table, and your time. While any wooden product may require touch up and a level of care, this finish will hold up far better over time.
